I’m out in New York City today for a Zillow and Street Easy event and I wanted to use this opportunity to talk about some big changes in technology in the world of real estate. In particular, I wanted to address virtual reality.
Virtual tours are one of the best tools right now because they let you see a floor plan and ‘move’ through a house, but they don’t really give you a sense of scale. With virtual reality, though, you can move through the house as if you’re standing in the home itself. You can fully look around and walk from room to room to really get a feel for the home.
This kind of technology isn’t readily available to the masses just yet, but it should become a new standard in the next few years. Samsung’s virtual reality is already very popular and very accessible, so as it becomes more popular, more and more businesses will hop on it. There’s also Google Cardboard, a VR tool you can put your cellphone into that becomes an instant VR headset. They’re only about $13—I got one as a stocking stuffer this year!
You can see my live experience with the VR headset in the video above. It’s pretty stunning how it felt as though I was actually in a great condo in New Jersey.
This is the technology that’s coming around the bend, and I’m excited to work with Zillow and Street Easy to be a part of it.
If you have any questions about this amazing technology that’s becoming more and more popular, just give me a call or send me an email. I might just send you a Google Cardboard set of your own so you can experience it for yourself. I hope to hear from you soon!
